Raiders announce Jon Gruden as new head coach

Posted January 07, 2018

Gruden has reportedly agreed to a 10-year, $100 million contract, the largest for a coach in National Football League history.

Gruden more or less confirmed the report, unlike in previous years when he denied or had no comment.

Then after that he will head to Oakland with the task of resurrecting Carr after a down year and getting the Raiders back to the postseason.

"There's a great legacy on 'Monday Night Football, ' " McDonough said.

For what it's worth, no coach has won a Super Bowl with multiple teams.

Gruden is returning for a second stint as coach of the Raiders after being traded to Tampa Bay following the 2001 season.

Gruden told ESPN earlier this week that he had a good talk with Davis about returning to the organization and believed there was a "good chance" it would happen.

Raiders GM Reggie McKenzie declined the Packers' request to interview him for their general-manager vacancy.

Personally, I enjoy Gruden as an analyst, though he is sometimes comical and overzealous, and his commentary during the Steelers-Bengals game regarding Vontaze Burfict and JuJu Smith-Schuster was nothing short of idiotic. Undoubtedly, the Raiders are going all in on Gruden.

So this is really his last game in the booth, huh?
