Raiders to make Jon Gruden highest-paid coach in National Football League history

ESPN reported that Gruden would receive a 10-year deal that will be the longest coaching contract in NFL history and could be worth close to $100 million USA, which would make him the highest-paid coach in league history.

Gruden, now the color commentator on ESPN's "Monday Night Football", will be officially introduced as Oakland's new head coach on Tuesday, according to multiple reports.

The 54-year-old Gruden spent four seasons as Oakland's head coach from 1998 through 2001 before getting traded to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

It is believed that he will bring in well regarded Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Paul Guenther to run his defense. Gruden holds an all-time mark of 95-81 over 11 seasons with the Raiders and the Bucs and is 5-4 in the playoffs.

Gruden, who was hired by ESPN in 2009, reportedly already has made some key hires to his coaching staff.

The Rooney Rules requires National Football League teams to interview minority candidates for head coaching vacancies. Bisaccia was the special teams coordinator for all seven seasons Gruden was Tampa Bay's head coach. "Minority candidates were interviewed and we will wait and see the decision they make". Shell went 2-14 that season and was sacked after one year.
