The MLA later apologised, saying "the lady constable misbehaved, abused me and nearly beat me, but I should not have lost my calm". Well, while this became quite a news, all that leaped the situation is the lady constable slapping her back at the moment.

Speaking to ANI, constable Rajvanti said, "I was just doing my duty". In a matter of seconds, Kumari was left bewildered when the said lady constable retaliated, slapping the veteran Congress legislator in return.

The Himachal Pradesh Congress MLA Asha Kumari alleged had to face severe reverse on Friday when she slapped a woman constable on-duty. The "slapgate" happened even as Congress president Rahul Gandhi had reached the office to take stock of the party's defeat in the recent assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh. A senior Congress leader told TOI that after seeing the video, Rahul expressed his displeasure and told Kumari that she should not have hit the cop. No one has a right to raise a hand against someone, at least not the Congress culture. I am her mother's age... but yes, I agree I should not have lost my temper.

In a spontaneous reaction, the constable too slapped Asha, which left the MLA perturbed. However, she said the constable pushed her and abused her.

Himachal Pradesh Assembly Elections 2017 were held in single phase on November 9.

Rahul will meet party legislators, defeated party candidates and district presidents, and discuss with them the reasons for the defeat.
