Alerts for heavy rains, high winds issued for Cayuga County

It will still be a little on the brisk side with a westerly wind occasionally gusting around 20mph and high temperatures expected to top out in the low to mid 50s. Strong wind gusts may blow down limbs, trees, and power lines, it said, and scattered power outages are expected.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory that covers the entire state. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS.This wind advisory means that wind gusts of 45 to 50 miles per hour are expected.

Some areas could see up to five inches of rain by Monday.
