Trevor Siemian: Denver Broncos name starting quarterback

Posted August 22, 2017

Paxton Lynch led three scoring drives in his bid for the starting quarterback job, Denver forced four turnovers in the first half and the Broncos beat the San Francisco 49ers 33-14 on Saturday night.

A significant component of that separation was their work in the Broncos' first two preseason games.

Trevor Siemian: 8-for-11, 93 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT, 0 sacks.

Lynch completed 15 of his 22 passes the last two weeks, but threw for just 81 yards, averaging 3.7 yards per attempt.

Schwartz argued that the anti-Trump resistance must be maintained, especially as he believes the resignation to be near. This was later borne out by reports that Trump doesn't read numerous important reports presented to him as president.

Siemian, who played most of last season with a left (non-throwing) shoulder injury that required surgery, finished 8-6 as a starter in 2016. "He's an athlete. And Trevor, he was solid".

Joseph told reporters that the Broncos are all in agreement with the decision. "Still, no doubt, I have a long way to go again, but yeah, I think that's it".

Denver still isn't likely much closer to making a decision on whom the starter will be despite vice president of football operations John Elway's plea earlier this week that one of the two take control of the job. After a slow start in the first few days of training camp, he consistently moved the team in practice and showed "the timing and ball placement" Joseph has said would be important factors in the decision.

Broncos head coach Vance Joseph is expected to make a formal announcement at a press conference Monday afternoon. "So I was pleased with Trevor".
