Erica Newsome, 37, left Jacksonville on Friday with her 11-year-old daughter, Kaye-lea Plummer.

Chilled to the core, the couple, who were reportedly in town from NY to attend a bluegrass festival, said they got far more than they'd bargained for as they watched the woman drag the blanket-wrapped body into the woods. "Something pushed her over the edge and she snapped".

He told the television station he received a text from Newsome on Saturday saying she was bringing their daughter to Buffalo.

A crime scene was discovered at Newsome's home in Jacksonville soon after her arrest in West Virginia according to Florida authorities.

Police say the mother of Kaye-Lea dragged her about 150 feet over an embankment after a auto crash in West Virginia last weekend.

"It was obvious that the 11-year-old did not die from injuries from the accident", Barlow said.

Donath Plummer spoke with our news partners at Action News JAX about the death of his 11 year old daughter, Kaye-Lea Plummer. The woman said the child did not move, eat, drink, speak or use the restroom for two days as they drove from Jacksonville to the scene of the accident. She and her daughter, Kaye-lea Plummer, were traveling from Jacksonville, Fl to Buffalo, NY when Newsome lost control of the vehicle in West Virginia.

ActionNewsJax adds that there is no confirmation on a cause of death, but foul play is suspected.

Newsome drove some 700 miles with her daughter's body in the auto, and planned to drive all the way to Buffalo, New York where the girl's father lives. He said he hadn't seen them since Newsome moved with Kaye-lea to Jacksonville in 2014, but he would check on his daughter regularly by phone. The accident happened near Thornwood, which is about a mile and a half inside the West Virginia state line. Later that day, she texted him again saying they were having vehicle troubles and needed to rest, he told News 4 Jax. Police said the girl did not die as a result of any injuries suffered in the crash.

"We didn't always agree on everything, but she was a great mother".

"Some illness, some sickness that got into her- that's the only explanation I could think of because Erica didn't do that", Plummer said. 'Something is very, very wrong.
