I can guarantee you that senior initiative and our exceptional innovation group, alongside outside specialists, are working round the clock to secure our aggregate advantages.

A security contractor from IP Echelon hired by HBO to remove leaked material from online sources found that the hackers stole "thousands of Home Box Office (HBO) internal company documents", including employee data and possibly internal corporate email, in a situation that's reminiscent of the massive 2014 attack on Sony Pictures Entertainment. As proof, the email offered what appeared to be a genuine script for the upcoming episode of Game of Thrones as well as a treatment of the same episode. Following the attack, a handful of unaired episodes from HBO's multiple shows got leaked online.

Reuters reported that HBO has declined to comment on the specific programming stolen in the attack, though it did send out a message to its employees that has also been shared with the press. You are lucky to be the first pioneers to witness and download the leak.

HBO acknowledged the hack on Monday, and said that it was working with law enforcement on the issue.

Similarly, an anonymous hacker recently posted most of the fifth season of Netflix original Orange Is the New Black on file-sharing site The Pirate Bay, after the streaming service reportedly failed to pay a ransom.

Unlike Yahoo, which disclosed last year that hackers had stolen the credentials of hundreds of millions of users in two breaches that went undetected for years, HBO does not appear to have sensitive personal information on a similar scale. An over-the-wire data breach can occur with various degrees of complexity, duration and effort.
