Fresh Kid Ice dies aged 53

Campbell, also known as Uncle Luke, tweeted Thursday morning, "My Condolence goes out to the family Chris Wong Fresh Kid Ice of the 2 Live Crew who just passed away people we lost a legend".

Won is best known for being one of the members of 2 Live Crew, a hip-hop group that he founded in 1984 with DJ Mr. Mixx and Amazing Vee.

Rapper Christopher "Fresh Kid Ice" Wong Won has passed away.

The Supreme Court ruled in favour with 2 Live Crew in 1992 but the case led to parental advisory labels on album covers. Later, they hooked up with Luther Campbell when the trio signed with his record label. Chris and Uncle Luke were arrested that same year following a live performance that police said was obscene and lewd.

In addition to his role in 2 Live Crew, Fresh Kid Ice also formed Chinaman Records. 'We've been in the background and stayed behind the scenes, but we learn from our mistakes.

Fresh Kid Ice is the second major rapper to face an untimely death in the last month - rapper Prodigy, best known as one half of the NY hip-hop duo Mobb Deep, died on June 20, aged 42.
