Gunman on the loose after killing 3 in Alabama

Police say they were responding to an emergency call in Gardendale Wednesday morning when they found a man and two women dead.

Authorities are searching for an armed man following a shooting at an Alabama mobile home community near Birmingham.

Gardendale Police released a photo of the suspect, identified as 51-year-old white male Kenneth Dion Lever, who has fled the scene and the search for him has already been underway.

'If you see this individual do not approach him, and call 911 immediately - he is armed and unsafe, ' Walker said in an appeal to the public.

In Alabama, a protection from abuse order was also issued against Lever in December 2016 after his ex-wife suspected that he was abusing their 11-year-old daughter during unsupervised visits, according to

Lever was booked in Santa Rosa County in 2015 for an out-of-state fugitive warrant that originated from York, Pennsylvania on charges related to a child sex crime.

Lever was set to be due in court for both cases in September.

Jefferson County Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates says police notified his office about the deaths, which occurred Wednesday morning in the suburb of Gardendale. Lever was held on $100,000 bail in the first case and posted it, being released from York County Prison afterward.

The suspect's vehicle is a black 2007 Lincoln Navigator with Florida tag # 689NFN. The girl had been seeing a therapist who reached out and informed the mother of some concerns. The page says that he studied math at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, so he has a connection to the area.

'My daughter has a different disposition when she returns home, ' the woman wrote in the complaint. "She is very clingy to me and will not let me leave her".

A hearing in the Alabama case is scheduled for July 26, a court docket showed.
