The list of Gymboree stores closing as part of the company's bankruptcy is out and Upstate New York is getting hit hard.

Its other stores in the Central Valley are to remain open: Sacramento; Roseville; Folsom (Gymboree Outlet and a separate Gymboree store); Stockton; Modesto; Fresno; Visalia; Tulare (Gymboree Outlet); Bakersfield; and Arvin (Gymboree Outlet).

In a statement addressing customers, the company said after more than 40 years in business, they are "restructuring" to improve it's financial profile. The goal, it said, is a "right size store base". It is the Gymboree at the West Park Mall in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

As people shop online more, traditional retailers such as Gymboree and shopping malls in general have been hit hard.
