Joe Girardi believes Dustin Fowler's season-ending injury in his Major League Baseball debut could've been avoided if the Yankees' 22-year-old rookie hadn't banged into an electrical box that sat just above the half wall along the right-field line at Guaranteed Rate Field.
Dustin Fowler's major league debut was over before he even stepped into the batter's box, and New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi had harsh words for Guaranteed Rate Field. Fowler was taken off the field on a cart.
"I'm not blaming the White Sox, but it's something that should have been inspected".
Mr. Fowler made his Major League debut June 29. "Maybe you put up Plexiglass, so they can't flip over and people can look through it".
The game vs. the White Sox was delayed for nearly three hours as rain passed through the Chicago area.
Girardi felt the injury was tragic and preventable as Fowler's knee struck an exposed electrical box that was knee-high just past the padded fence. "It just doesn't seem fair that that would happen".

No Morata talks yet, says Perez

Macron set for success as party dominates French elections
French voters have traditionally rallied behind their new leader in the legislative elections that follow the presidential ballot. Pollsters' projected that as many as one-third of votes went to Mr Macron's camp in the first stage of the two-part election.
"I'm very excited. Glad to be here", Fowler said before the game.
"I was in tears, actually", Girardi said.
Left fielder Brett Gardner told reporters following the game that it was the worst thing he had seen while on a baseball field. Fowler's injury is the latest in a long line of promising Yankee prospects to go down with a significant injury this season alongside Gleyber Torres (elbow), James Kaprelian (elbow), and Greg Bird (ankle). "He's a damn good player and he continues to improve and I was looking forward to get a chance to play with him and just help him out along the way". He was scheduled to lead off the top of the second.
Dustin Fowler poses for a portrait during the New York Yankees photo day on February 21, 2017. "We look at him as an everyday third baseman in the future".
"He's going to be out awhile", Girardi said. And Fowler's departure means that on Friday, the Yankees will put their fifth player on the disabled list in five days.
The injury-riddled Yankees are down yet another man after losing for the 12th time in 16 games and falling a game behind first-place Boston in the AL East.
