At a glance: Last day of the Bill Cosby sex assault trial

Posted June 18, 2017

A U.S. judge declared a mistrial Saturday in Bill Cosby's sexual assault case after the jury remained deadlocked on whether the fallen star was guilty of drugging and molesting a woman in 2004, but prosecutors vowed to seek a retrial. Gloria, who, like Cosby, is a Philadelphia native, was a fixture at the sexual assault trial as a show of support for the accusers.

"Mr. Cosby's power is back".

He was eventually charged in December 2015, just days before the statute of limitations was set to expire. They told Judge Steven O'Neill on the fourth day that they could not reach a unanimous verdict.

Steadfast Cosby supporters can point to juror division as evidence of a prosecution case that was far from open-and-shut.

While Simpson was acquitted in the 1995 criminal case, a jury in the civil case ordered him to pay $25 million in punitive damages to the families of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald L. Goldman, who were together when they were killed.

Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele stated that they will retry the case.

Bruce Castor, the ex-prosecutor who passed on Constand's case in 2005, said Saturday that he was disappointed but not surprised in Steele's failure to win a conviction.

Janice Dickinson, the model and reality TV personality, said in a November 2014 interview that Cosby sexually assaulted her after the two had dinner at Lake Tahoe in 1982. Instead, a publicist read a blistering statement from his wife, Camille, who had been in court during one day of the trial but was not at the courthouse Saturday.

Bank of England keeps rates at record low as economy slows
The bank said clear signs of demand pressures call for a tight monetary policy stance so as to ensure medium-term price stability. The first is that this is not the first time some MPC members have argued for higher rates, and then later changed their minds.

Medical services such as the cost of doctor's visits dipped 0.1 percent in May but have risen 2.5 percent over the past 12 months. On a yearly basis, inflation rose by 1.9%, recording its smallest increase since November of previous year .

After Six-Day War, An American Became A West Bank Settler
Some 600,000 Israeli settlers now live in the West Bank and east Jerusalem , alongside around 4.9 million Palestinians. Abbas's spokesman called Netanyahu's statements a "challenge" to Trump and the worldwide community.

Camille Cosby, wife of the accused, issued a statement in response to the mistrial.

There seems little doubt all this will be rehashed with prosecutors vowing to retry Cosby.

More than 60 women have come forward to accuse Cosby of sexual misconduct, alleging a pattern of sexual abuse over decades.

Former teen actor Barbara Bowman told her story to many media outlets in the years after Constand went public. "She spent a lot more time trying to forget what happened than trying to remember that night".

Referring to the comedian, Masten said she "will not degrade myself to ever" utter his name again. We commend those prosecutors who raise awareness that one of the hallmarks of drug-related sexual assaults is the affect the drug has on the victim's memory and the ability to recall and were nonetheless willing to present this evidence to the jury.

It continued, "We are confident that these proceedings have given a voice to the many victims who felt powerless and silenced". Johnson alleged that Cosby drugged and molested her at a Los Angeles hotel bungalow in 1996. In a press conference held shortly after the mistrial was announced, Steele said Constand was "courageous" and "a positive person" who "has kept all of us going through a number of days when we were waiting for a jury to come back".

Jurors have already discussed the case for more than 50 hours since Monday, leading to Cosby's lawyer to push for a mistrial. "It was too late for her to sue for rape or for drugging, but once he, through his representatives, called her a liar, she had a fresh claim for defamation and that's the lawsuit that we filed".

Cosby's lawyers have denied the charges.
