Xiaomi bets big on Mi Homes for larger offline play

Chinese handset maker Xiaomi on Tuesday launched the successor to the Redmi 3s lineup, the Redmi 4, in India.

Storage and RAM- Redmi 4 comes in three variants 2GB RAM+16GB storage, 3GB RAM+32GB storage and 4GB RAM+64GB storage.

Technically speaking, the Redmi 4 comes with a 5 inch HD display with 2.5D curved glass protection, while being powered by a 1.4 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 SoC paired with either 2/ 3/ or 4 GB of RAM as we mentioned earlier.

Security: The device has a fingerprint sensor on its rear panel and has a metal body. On the back of the phone is a 13MP camera with an f/2.0 aperture and Phase Detection Auto Focus technology. Th rear camera supports 5-element lens, ƒ/2.2 aperture, Single LED flash, Low light enhancement, HDR, Panorama, Burst mode, Face recognition, and Real-time filters.

On the software front, the Redmi Note 4X runs on Mi 10, which is based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.

For the price, buyers are actually getting what they pay for the Xiaomi Redmi 4. The three variants are differentiated on the basis of RAM and storage. Router market has been gradually growing in India and maybe that's the reason Xiaomi's got the thought of bringing this into the Indian market. Connectivity options include dual-SIM card slots (hybrid setup), 4G with VoLTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Global Positioning System.

The router also comes with the metering feature that will let users limit the bandwidth for each device and also block other devices deemed suspicious.

The device will go on sale on May 23 at 12 PM (IST) exclusively on Amazon and can also be pre-booked at Mi.com for an amount of Rs.1000. It comes with a 4,100 mAh battery and is available in two colour variants- gold and black.

As for the Mi Router 3C, the device will set buyers back by Rs 1199.

In terms of connectivity, Redmi 4 will come with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS, Infrared port, FM Radio, microUSB 2.0, and 3.5-mm headphone jack as connectivity options. Redmi 4 will also be available at the newly opened Mi Home in Bangalore starting 20th May 2017.
