Posted May 17, 2017

Unveiled earlier today, the new U11 flagship smartphone from HTC comes with an unusual feature: the ability to control certain functions by squeezing the sides of the device. It sports a 5.5-inch Super LCD 5 display with Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution and is protected by a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass 5. One with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage and other is 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The highlight of the smartphone its Edge Sense feature, that lets users squeeze the U 11 for perform specific tasks.

On the camera front, the rear camera of the HTC 11 has a 12 million Ultrapixel camera and a large pixel size of 1.4Qm and f 1.7 aperture, an Ultra Speed AF sensor, OIS and EIS.

Like Apple, HTC has now ditched the 3.5 mm headphone jack for USB-C, which it says is going to lead to higher fidelity audio (it's throwing in a 3.5 mm-to-USB-C adapter in the box so you can still use your current headphones).

Currently, it is available in Sapphire Blue, Ice White, Solar Red, Brilliant Black and Amazing Silver.

The Price of HTC U 11:It costs Rs 42,000 approximately. It's called HTC Edge Sense, and it's likely to make a small impact. The HTC U11 follows the other two devices in the U lineup, U Ultra and U Play, that was released in February. It ships not with one but three virtual assistants on board, the Google Assistant and Alexa (on top of HTC's own Sense Companion) - although the later won't be available at launch (it will be added via a software update by end of June - hopefully).

Ceremony to be held for Peace Officers
The president signed a proclamation Monday declaring the day "Peace Officer Memorial Day" and the upcoming week "Police Week". Obama had flags flown at half-mast for police, the paper reported , but didn't shine the blue light on the White House.

Australia and NZ largely escape global cyber attack
Europol provides free decryption downloads for most ransomware already detected, though not yet for this particular attack. State media reported that digital payment systems at some gas stations were offline, forcing customers to pay cash.

Russia, Turkey, and Iran Agree to Ban U.S
According to the memorandum, any clashes between the government forces and opposition armed groups must stop within the zones. The deal also calls for refugees to be allowed to return to the safe zones and services and infrastructure to be restored.

Of course, the new HTC U11 will not be complete without new optics. Thus HTC has worked hard on aspects of this smartphone which could differentiate it from Droids from other brands.

Setting aside this apparent time-saving gimmick, the HTC U11 is being launched in five colours and measures 153.9 x 75.9 x 7.9mm, making it around 5mm shorter than the iPhone 7 Plus and 6mm shorter than the Samsung Galaxy 8 Plus. It has a 3,000mAh battery with Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 and is IP67-rated for water and dust resistance.

Since it launched previous year, Alexa and the Echo speaker have become hugely popular and including it on the U11 is a smart move from HTC. Selfie fans are also well catered for, with a 16MP front camera.

However, all three devices each has a 12 megapixel rear camera, all of which also feature a variety of imaging technology created to compose images in different ways. We can only comment on the practicality once we try it out, however.

The HTC U11 will sell from June for a recommend price of Euro 749 in a choice of blue, silver or black.
