The image was released by the palace on Monday evening ahead of Charlotte's second birthday on May 2.
Like her brother, Charlotte was born at St. Mary's Hospital in London, a short drive away from her parents' London base, a lavish 20-room apartment at Kensington Palace. For Charlotte's first birthday, mom Kate got behind the camera to take the sweet pictures, which showed Charlotte playing around the family's home of Anmer Hall in adorable pink and blue outfits (with matching bows!).
The Duke and Duchess - William and Catherine (Kate) - along with Prince Harry all have the day off official Royal engagements, although the Duke of Edinburgh, Princess Charlotte's great-grandfather, will be hosting a lunch reception at Buckingham Palace.
Kensington Palace said they "hope that everyone enjoys this photograph of Princess Charlotte as much as they do". Charlotte was also present on the family's tour of Canada last fall.

Experts at Brand Finance, a company that specialise in brand valuation have previously predicted that Princess Charlotte will be worth more than £3bn to the United Kingdom economy across her lifetime.
The Royal Family had released a similar picture on Princess Charlotte's last birthday as she turned one. We know the duchess has a knack for capturing fabulous portraits of her adorable children. The ceremony is Queen Elizabeth II's annual birthday parade and dates back to the time of Charles II in the 17th Century when the Colours of a regiment were used as a rallying point in battle.
"She said that Charlotte is growing up really fast".
Her older brother, Prince George, is third in line to the British throne.
George will be schooled at the private Thomas's Battersea school in September and it is likely his sister will be sent to a nursery later this year. He will devote more time to royal duties.
