The rumors have been around since the start of Sean Spicer's tenure as White House press secretary. Unless I have them every two weeks and do it myself.
At first, the administration said that Mr Rosenstein "made the recommendation, the president made a swift and decisive action and let Comey go". The press staff said that Spicer might do a briefing, then announced that he definitely wouldn't say anything more that night.
USA president Donald Trump has lashed out in a series of tweets amid a firestorm over the firing of Federal Bureau of Investigation director James Comey, defending the shifting narrative and timeline his administration has offered for the decision.
"We want this to come to its conclusion, we want it to come to its conclusion with integrity", said deputy press secretary Sarah Sanders, referring to the FBI's probe into Moscow's interference in last year's election. Comey was sacked amid an FBI investigation into the Trump campaign's possible ties to Russian Federation and after an investigation into Hillary Clinton's private use of emails during her stint as secretary of state.
White House spokesman Sean Spicer said Tuesday that Rosenstein drafted the memo raising concerns about Comey on his own accord.
There was some talk as Trump took office that his administration would do things differently and cut back on press access.

Bosz, "We were 3-0 down at Schalke and not all games are the same". "We have done that and the final result is handsome ". We do not need to be ashamed after how we played, but we are disappointed and frustrated".
US Vice President Mike Pence said the firing had nothing to do with the FBI's Russian Federation probe, but Trump dismissed the claim in his NBC News interview on Thursday.
For most of the week, Spicer has been under fire for missing the briefings. "Doing away with the briefings would reduce accountability, transparency and the opportunity for Americans to see that, in the USA system, no political figure is above being questioned".
"That exercise, conducted in full view of our republic's citizens, is clearly in line with the spirit of the First Amendment", the statement continues.
"Sometimes we don't have an opportunity to get in to see him and get his whole thinking", he said.
"I have heard that directly from him that information was relayed directly to him from Director Comey", said Sanders, who declined to provide further details. "Another president, I won't use names, but another president doesn't do what I'm doing". I imagine it would look something like this March 13 photo, except with Spicer standing behind the bushes instead of in front of them, but still sporting the same look of terror and different colored shoes.
"No, I don't believe, I don't know how that sequence went - I don't know", he said. "Another president, Jeannine, will sit in the Oval Office and do practically nothing all day".
