In the Golden State Warriors' Game 3 against the Utah Jazz, the league got a good look at what Durant can do in postseason play.
The Warriors won 102-91 to go 3-0 up in the best-of-seven series, meaning they need just one more win to progress.
Durant finished with 38 points and 13 rebounds, while shooting 15-26 from the field, and 4-8 from downtown.
Late in the game, Warriors forward Kevin Durant got into a scuffle with Jazz big man Rudy Gobert while jockeying for position under the basket, leading to a flagrant foul on Durant and a technical foul on Gobert. Unfortunately, that's nothing more than a pipe dream.
Saturday night reminded us of the simple fact that makes the Golden State Warriors so absurd. Hill has been a major contributor to the Jazz's breakthrough season, but will Utah commit longterm to a 31-year-old point guard who only played 49 regular season games? That's something that has been evident all series, but especially last night. Sporadic shooting, an amped up road crowd and some dominant spurts from Rudy Gobert had the Warriors only up two with under four minutes left. "Just stay completely present".
Meanwhile, Derrick Favors and Rodney Hood who are two guys that at the season's start were expected to be primary candidates as Utah's third option (or quite honestly second option given that Gobert's rise on offense was largely unforeseen), were largely ineffective. Through five playoff games thus far, Durant is averaging 24.4 points on 53.0 percent from the field and 40.9 percent from three, 8.6 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.0 blocks over 32.4 minutes per game. Their recent slide into irrelevance has been a back-breaker for the Jazz. "If we're able to do that, we'll turn our attention to the next game".
And despite all that, the Jazz had the lead during the fourth quarter against arguably the best team this league has ever seen. Golden State is making this postseason last.
Iraq PM: No US combat troops to stay in Iraq after IS
If the two nations agree on terms, Iraq would join Afghanistan in having USA troops stationed there for the foreseeable future. Government forces launched a major offensive to recapture Mosul, the last major urban stronghold of Isis in Iraq , in October.
Top NBA prospect Lonzo Ball reveals signature shoe for the family's brand
On Friday, LaVar unsurprisingly continued to defend the hefty pricetag during an ESPN interview on the Dan Le Batard Show . No one took the bait, so now, Lavar is taking his brand solo. "But hey, the taxi industry wasn't ready for Uber either".
Venezuelans again take to streets as death toll jumps to 37
Opponents say Maduro's bid to call a constitutional convention is a ploy to put off elections that polls say it would lose. Crowds of them marched in Caracas , some clashing with riot police who blocked their way and fired tear gas.
Lost in the highlights has been a smothering defense allowing just 99.3 points per game - second-best among teams still alive in the postseason.
That's both somewhat disappointing, but also bodes very well for the future.
"KD (Durant) had a big night offensively".
Jazz coach Quin Snyder said Golden State's combination of length and quickness makes things hard.
Unfortunately, now facing an 0-3 deficit, it appears that Coach Quin Snyder's bag of tricks is all but empty and barring essentially an act of God, the Jazz will likely be eliminated by week's end.
Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz will be hoping to stave off elimination and avoid getting swept at home after falling short in Game 3.
