UFC announces plans for women's 125-pound division

The 115-pound strawweight division was added through the 20th season of "The Ultimate Fighter" in 2014. Despite UFC president Dana White stating that the promotion isn't looking to add another division this year after the shaky start to the women's 145-pound weight class, they've gone and made a decision to add a women's 125-pound class as well.

Current UFC fighters are free to apply for TUF provided they can make flyweight through out the season.

As everyone was getting excited about the UFC adding it's 12th division, and fourth women's division, it appears as if the organization jumped the proverbial gun on making the announcement. UFC president Dana White told the same thing to Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports.

Interestingly, Letourneau lost the fight and has since been released by the UFC, but just last month she signed for Bellator, who are in the process of building their own women's 125lb division.

Turkey has long insisted the YPG are "terrorists" and condemned the USA for providing such arms. So, the Syrian Democratic Forces (which include YPG) were struck.

Under the current divisions, fighters have to either compete "undersize" in the Bantamweight at 135lbs, or endure a ugly weight cut to drop to the 116lbs Strawweight limit.

The UFC has eight men's weight classes. Interestingly, they will be open to existing UFC fighters, meaning the likes of Joanne Calderwood and Jessica Eye, who have both previously competed at 125, would be eligible to try out for the new season and associated strap.

Bellator MMA also intends to crown its first female flyweight champion later this year.
