James Gunn to write, direct 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3'

After much explanation, Gunn threw his answer writing: "So yes, I'm returning to write and direct Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3".

James Gunn, the man who more than anyone else helped propel Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy from C-list heroes to beloved big screen favorites, is officially coming back to write and direct the third film in the franchise. He assured that he and his team will work on "creating the story that goes beyond what you expect". The announcement came from the director himself, James Gunn, who posted the revelation on his Facebook page. I promise you, the fans, I'll do it all with integrity and love and respect for the characters.

This week, ScreenRant reported that Vol. 2 would feature a record-breaking four post-credit scenes following the final scene of the movie.

Here's the full note. "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will happen after all that", he wrote.

That blockbuster represents the conclusion of the past decade of Marvel movies, and as Gunn notes, the third volume of Guardians of the Galaxy will likely serve as the bridge to the next series of MCU films.

"I know people have had different things to say about Marvel, about how creative they are or not free they are", Gunn explained.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and its five post-credits scenes will be released in theaters on May 5.

The Guardians are taking on new members this year in the form of Yondu, Mantis and Nebula, and they'll also add a few more by the time we hit Vol. 3.
