Andromeda Just Needs Some Loving Patches

Posted April 05, 2017

Mass Effect: Andromeda shipped with a host of issues that impact gameplay and fans are eagerly awaiting fixes on multiple fronts. Aspects like the weird dead eyes of Human and Asari characters in Mass Effect: Andromeda are being changed, along with improved lip sync, and "Fixing Ryder's movements when running in a zig zag pattern".

The announcement also elaborates a bit about the near-term update plans for the game, and there's some very welcome stuff coming soon. One of these, the craziest bugs in the game - I actually have no idea how I should describe it - is an issue that Bioware has already fixed and will most likely be a part of a new patch. Your squad wields it in the New Earth trailer, and it appears in the weapons briefing trailer.

These include more options and variety in the character creator (sorely needed), "ongoing improvements" to animations and character appearance, and more sexy time options for Scott Ryder. By comparison, there are five male-female romance options, three of which are Ryder's own squadmates.

Additionally, there's a side character you meet named Hainly Abrams who awkwardly reveals she's a trans woman while dropping her own dead name (a term that refers to the name a trans person is assigned at birth).

Should the cylinder head crack, leaking oil may make contact with the hot exhaust system, causing a fire in extreme circumstances. This is actually an expansion for an existing recall, which now brings the total count to 757,000 recalls.

The studio is also looking to add more cosmetic items to the single-player campaign free of charge, and plans to further build upon the multiplayer experience over the next couple months with new maps, weapons and characters.

But take heart: this is just the start of the journey.

Piracy is not as big an issue in the video games industry as it was in the past, so many players call it "anti-consumer", as companies like CD Projekt Red are making a lot of money without DRM or another kind of protection. Several players were also asking for certain guns that made their appearances in earlier games such as the classic sniper M-92 Sniper, which is one of the earliest rifles for both "Mass Effect 2" and "Mass Effect 3".
