Part Of Las Vegas Strip Closed For Shooting Investigation

One person is dead and another wounded after a shooting on a bus in Las Vegas, but the suspect remained barricaded inside in a tense standoff, police said.

Las Vegas Metro Police are now in a standoff with an unnamed suspect following a deadly shooting on the city's world famous strip.

Shortly after 11 a.m., KSNV reported that at least one victim of a shooting had been transported to University Medical Center trauma in unknown condition.

Police surrounded a bus as they investigated the shooting, Officer Larry Hadfield told CNN.

Police say that there is no current active shooter inside the hotel.

"It's as if they're shooting a movie, they've shut down Las Vegas Boulevard, and because - and we haven't seen anything slowing down", he said.

Hadfield said the casino properties in the area have been co-operating by keeping people from exiting through their front doors onto the Strip. According to USA Today, the robbery took place just before 3 a.m. and involved three suspects wearing suits or tuxedos and animal masks who smashed the windows of a jewelry store and ran off while guests watched.
