Windy and dry weather lead to fire risk

Posted March 07, 2017

It's going to stay breezy, but wind will be out of the northwest (instead of the southwest like this weekend) with gusts around 30 miles per hour possible. Strong southwest winds are also expected.

The Fire Danger will remain high on Monday before the wind comes down by Tuesday.

The warning was in effect until 6 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

A Red Flag Warning is in effect until 6 p.m. for the entire metro area as well as the Eastern Plains. Red Flag Warnings can change throughout the day as the National Weather Service offices around the country update and revise their forecasts. The weak weather disturbance that was grazing New Mexico to the south with extra clouds on Friday will be moving east and northeast today. So you do not want to do any outdoor burning with the warm weather, wind and drier conditions.
