And Danny's break from the show will unlikely cause any issues for writers as his on-screen wife Kellie Bright - who plays pub landlady Linda Carter in the soap - is also enjoying some time off following the birth of her second child Gene in November.

Danny Dyer has been reportedly forced to quit EastEnders and "sort his life out" after going off the rails with his party antics. He also won two National Television Awards for serial drama performance while playing the role.

"Danny is on a short break from EastEnders", a spokesperson for the soap confirmed amid the swirling rumours.

Danny, who previously admitted to drinking onset, first appeared as Mick, the landlord of the iconic Queen Vic pub in Walford, in December 2013, after which he became a show favourite. It was clear to onlookers he appeared very drunk at the NTAs.

The BBC has denied reports the actor had been urged to take time off from the show to "sort his life out", but confirmed he is taking a short break. He appears to be exhausted.
