Posted February 16, 2017

The high-profile signing, reported on last week by SoccerWire.com, marks another U.S. Women's National Team star testing the waters in Europe.

Carli Lloyd, the current FIFA World Player of the Year, on Wednesday signed a deal with the FA Women's Super League club for the 2017 Spring Series, FA Women's Cup and UEFA Women's Champions League campaign, becoming the latest US women's national player to leave the NWSL for Europe.

I can confirm that Carli Lloyd will sign a short-term deal with Manchester City and return to Dash in June.

The two-time FIFA Player of the Year, two-time Olympic gold medalist and 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup champion will also be looking to help lead the club to success in the FA WSL's Spring Series and the FA Women's Cup. "I am excited about this team and look forward to working with the talented group that I'll go into camp with".

The Nigeria global - one of the stars of the 2015 Women's World Cup in Canada - spent two years in England, joining Arsenal from Liverpool at the beginning of 2016. Manchester City is among the teams in the Champions League. Other American's in England include Crystal Dunn at Chelsea and Heather O'Reilly at Arsenal.

Houston Dash coach Randy Waldrum said that Lloyd informed him at the weekend about the opportunity to play for Man City.
