Fire in Mickey & Friends Parking Structure

Four cars were destroyed and four others were badly damaged, said the Anaheim Fire Department.

The blaze happened yesterday at the Mickey & Friends Parking Structure in Anaheim where thousands of cars are tightly packed into the auto park daily.

The fire occurred on Monday at 4:37 p.m. on the second floor of the six-story structure, City News Service reports.

Initial damage was estimated to be around $180,000, authorities said.

Authorities say no foul play is suspected after eight cars burned in a fire in a Disneyland parking structure.

Anaheim Fire and rescue raced to the scene and extinguished the blaze.

Four people were taken to the hospital. The lot was evacuated, with park-goers being unable to return to their vehicles until just before 7 p.m.

Seven Disneyland employees were treated for smoke inhalation, the OC Register reports. About one to three vehicles sustained minor damage from the heat, said police Sgt. Daron Wyatt, who also serves as a public information officer for the Anaheim Fire Department.

Pictures from the scene showed smoke billowing out of the 10,000-space vehicle park as nervous crowds gathered outside, unable to return to their cars.
